Pit-mix, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Doberman, Husky — categories like these show up on restriction lists at many San Antonio communities, and the list is buried in a pet addendum you usually see after paying an application fee. Owners of good dogs burn weeks and application money finding this out one leasing office at a time.

Multi-Pet Household Search
The most common written limit at San Antonio communities is two pets per apartment, and plenty of households simply have more — two cats and a dog, a bonded pair plus a senior animal, a foster who stayed. Past the count limit, the arithmetic changes too: most pet charges apply per pet, so a three-pet household is quoted a very different monthly number than the flyer implied.

Weight caps between 25 and 60 pounds are written into pet addenda all over San Antonio, which quietly excludes Labs, Shepherds, Goldens, and most of what the city’s shelters adopt out. And “pet friendly” on a listing tells you nothing about the cap — communities with a 35-pound limit use the same badge as communities with none.
